Featherstone started their season with an hard fought victory over normanton knights. From the kick off the lions forwards began to dominate their opposite numbers with callum nestor james pugh and max brown making good ground down the middle. with the forwards dominating it wasnt long before inflentual loose forward torrin longstaff spotted the gap and went over at the side of the posts. Brad smith who started at full back was in outstanding form earning himself the man of the match award. Prop forward jordon leech was once again in great form both in offence and defence making the most tackles and collecting a try hatrick.Charlie robertson scott ripley arron cunningham and ryan bailey all came away from the game with credit.James simpson and connor smith battled well after coming on as subs.
Reece dyas and Zak Dawson showed glimses of what could be a good half back pairing and connor walker lead the defensive line well and tried to get the attack moving all the game.
Featherstone lions would like to thank simon longstaff who looked after Robert england before the ambulance came as the player callapsed after the game due to a back and neck injury and would like to wish robert a speedy recorvery plus a speedy recovery to connor bell who had to go to hospital due to concussion.
