The young lions have had a great season with the "most Improved" award causing a headach to coachs Dean Campbell & Darren Ward to award to being that many in the frame of future stars for it after a mid season extensive reshuffle, with Harley Wilkinson taking the acolade for his game on game improvement throughout the season, followed by runners up elusive Ryan Butterfield, & strong running Kane Easby, and the ever improving Joshua Haller.

Next up was the "Coaches Merit award" going to Zach Burke for his ever present copy book tackling and having a "old Head" on young shoulders, way beyond his years, followed closely by Harvey Farrar for his consistant workload during each game he plays.

Further Nominations were given out to Harvey Farrar (Jim Bell award) and Tristan Parker (Tiddler Simpson award) highlighting the hard work and top class rugby they have produced consistently over the season, the Jim Bell award and Tiddler Simpson award are a prestigious award with the Lions Club that all age groups submit a nominee for each and have been won in the past by current greats of the game the likes of Rob Burrows(Leeds Rhinos), Dale Ferguson(Wakefield Wildcats), Jamie Rooney(Wakefield Wildcats) and the awards night is this coming saturday 1st August 7pm Start.

The Main "Coaches Player of the Season" award of the night went to Reiss Butterworth, for his great contribution to the team with his all round game and attitude playing for the team consistantly whilst giving 110% in training also, with runner-up going to Tristan Parker for his game breaker tries throughout the season.

The coaches would like to thank all the parents for their ongoing support this season, especially Wayne Burke/Pete Haller(Laison Officers), Ginette Butterfield(Team Rep) Rachel Parker(Raffle) and Alison Farrar (Catering), and also Rob Burrows for his continued support of the grass roots game !
Lions Vice Chairman quoted: Its such a honour to have Rob back at the club and for all the younger players meet him and see what playing top quality sport at a top amateur club like ourselves,they can then aspire to achieve the heights that Rob has gone on to with the Rhinos, we wish him and the Rhinos well on their closing stages of the super league campaign !

The u10s are now back in training for their 1st game of the season a friendly against Knottingley Rockware as a curtain Raiser to the Featherstone Rovers v Widnes game Sunday 9th August 1pm KO

The Lions are also asking for Rugby league fans VOTES before the deadline of 5th August runs out, to help them get a free makeover of their club and Fans can vote at www.thesun.co.uk/dulux and vote for the Yorkshire category there.
