Castleford Panthers 18 Featherstone Lions 4 070510

A great example of how Rugby League should be played with some nail biting moments for the parents to be had, with some end to end rugby in the opening 20 minutes played by Lions lead by Reiss Butterworth, Tristan Parker and the returning Jack Swain passing the ball fluently in attack to their supporting hard working forwards Alex Proctor and the tireless Zack burke putting in a tremendous amount of work

The Lions forwards causing the home side problems with some clever offloads from Pack Leader Harvey Farrar and Rhys Matisiak to the supporting back line of Joseph Selim and Christy Harte taking the ball on before up stepped hard running Rhys Matisiak on a unstoppable gallop to the line from half way gaining him the magic moment award just before the break 0-4 to the Lions

Cas Panthers started well and came back through the middle to score taking them 6-4 up in to the interval with all to play for in the second half

The home side started off well aided by some dubious ref decisions, went further ahead early in the second half through the middle with the Lions side grabbing at shirts in their tackling technique not helping their cause and getting some kicks into the wrong side of play, making it 12-4

Before battling back with Ryan Butterworth, Josh Haller and Nathan Marthew leading the attacks before unluckily losing the ball outwide going close

With some feroucious tackling by Joseph Selim, Harvey Farrar and Reiss butterworth holding their local rivals at bay until regaining the ball for Harley Wilkinson, Benjamin Whiteley and Ashley Ward to have further tilts at the line only to be held up short with good support from Morgan Johnstone making a fine Debut

SUMMARY: The Lions unlucky to be on the end of a 15 to 1 penalty count against them can take heart in their overall "Team" display with some fine handling skills along the line and some good straight running from their forwards

But will be looking to improve on their kicking game and up their concentration for the full 40 minutes in defense along with pairing up their forwards to run the gap not the man!
