The young Lions against better organised opponents quickly lost ground having not been fully focused in training prior to this game a telling factor on the result.
Although some good came out of it in the way the players kept going to the end, with some big displays from the returning Jo Trigg, hard tackling Lewis Wright and the ever hardworking pairing of Zach Burke, Ryan and Reiss Butterworth
After a few missed tackles down the middle helping Drighlington on there way in the early stages the Lions responded with good running from Jo Trigg and Reiss Butterworth being set on their way by the pairing of Lewis Wright and standoff Ryan Butterworth in their opponents half going close but being held short before the handover, with other opportunities lost due to losing the ball in key attacking positions letting drighlington come back out wide using their bigger centres to go over the whitewash.
The Lions regrouped and with strong runs by Tristan Parker & Kane Tonks setting the play, Lewis Wright Bundled his way over to score the Lions only try of the game with a well taken kick by Reiss Butterworth going over to complete
Zach Burke again had his normal big game with his tackling and the "Magic Moment"award going to him for a tackle out wide on covering half the field to get there stopping a certain try being scored
In the middle Kane Tonks again took out the big players with his strong tackling and fearless running of the ball, with some good tackles by Josh Haller aided by his wing partner Bradley Rycroft who gives 100% every game
With the Lions failing to utilise their speedy Backs with Luke France, and Harley Wilkinson supporting well, but not getting the possesion they needed on too many occasions the Lions with no game for 2 weeks, will need to train hard to rectify this over the next few weeks when they meet Oulton Raiders
on the 18th April Away
MOM went to Jo Trigg for his strong running and "Top Tackler" went to Lewis Wright with Reiss Butterworth pushing close also
