Featherstone lions u11s v knottingley u11s (at Featherstone Rovers)
The Lions were unlucky to lose this encounter on a hot day at Featherstone Rovers Curtain raiser to the Widnes game, as both teams played so well with Knottingley edging the 1st half of play with some fine individual efforts with the Lions not getting the rub of the green to score, before opening up with a fine individual piece of skill by Lions "MOM Reiss Butterworth" kicking through the defense and following up to regather and score a try that would befit a superleague game, with Kick by Zach Burke
Ryan Butterworth just edged the "top tackler award" with some great cover tackles, with Reiss Butterworth and Harvey Farrar close behind in the rankings
Tristan Parker had a big game with some fine runs scoring 2 tries to add to his tally both Kicks by Reiss Butterworth
Ashley Ward showed great vision to spot the opening and uses his pace to go over taking 2 would be tacklers with him, kick by Ryan Butterworth and was unlucky to be denied a trie by a 50/50 decision when he worked a great move by Reiss Butterworth to gather his kick on the full to go over winning the "Magic Moment award" jointly with Reiss Butterworth.
The returning Kane Easby had an other strong game doing the hard yards for his team mates along side Josh Haller putting in a fine defensive display
The Lions Back line of Megan Large, Luke France, Zach Burke and Harley Wilkinson put some great tackles in along with some fine runs to help their forwards out in the lata stages
The Lions held out with some fierce tackling with Harvey Farrar leading his troops before a couple of decisions went against them in the last minutes of play to set Knottingley on their way to clinch the game in the dying minutes
This was a fine example of rugby played at a great pace by young players and bolds well for both teams for the coming season.
