The Lions now with a settled side will look to learn from this, as they got better as the game progressed against a side that has played together over 3 years, with Harvey Farrar and Reiss Butterworth again leading by example in attack and defense for the young Lions.
Lions though having a bigger presence than their opponents failed to capitilise playing too much one man rugby up the middle and failing to get the ball out to the backs, of which Harley Wilkinson and Luke France looked dangerous when they got the ball with strong running down the flanks from the pair.
After conceding three tries in the early stages, Lions kept their heads up and battled back with good work from front rowers, new comer Kane Easby and the big running Harvey Farrar setting the play for fast running Tristan "TJ" Parker handing off two players, to go 40yrds leaving defenders in his wake to score Lions 1st points with Reiss Butterworth converting the kick
Debutant Ashley Ward had a fine first game with sound running and some great "one on one" tackles made whilst his fellow centre Kane Tonks again putting some big tackles in the middle to help hold Churwell out and causing Churwell problems when he ran at them
Early into the second half Reiss Butterworth again side stepped his way through 4 defenders to go over the whitewash with Zach Burke converting the kick
With quick thinking Reiss Butterworth setting up numerous attacks along side fast running stand off Ryan Butterworth, with good support play from Josh Haller and some great cover tackling by Zach Burke and Bradley Rycroft, Reiss Butterworth was unlucky to be held up over the line in a 50/50 call going against the Lions on 2 occasions before their opponents came back late on sealing the game in the latter stages due to the young Lions losing their concentration in defense
Man of Match went to Reiss Butterworth closely ran by Harvey Farrar
Magic Moment went to Tristan Parker for his stunning long range try with Reiss Butterworth pushing him close
Outstanding Tackling award went to the Big Harvey Farrar who worked tirelessly for his team mates through out
The Lions will look to up their defensive patterns in training, before they play Eastmore Dragons u10's at the high profile Featherstone Rovers v Warrington, Challenge Cup match this coming Sunday 11:45pm KO (u10's KO)
