This was a game of 2 halfs with the young Lions dominant in the first opening plays after conceding a early try to the visitors, they pulled their shirt sleeves up and got on with the task through some great drives by workhorses Kane Easby and Harvey Farrar making good ground for Reiss Butterworth to set up Tristan Parker on some surging runs gaining position for Harvey Farrar to give a great off load to the ever supporting Reiss Butterworth to take on, spotting the gap and using his strength to go crashing over taking 2 would be tacklers with him to open the Lions score, with a great conversion by the alert, Zach Burke
With the Lions creating havoc through their pairing of Reiss and Ryan Butterworth sending their pack through the gaps the Castleford team struggled to handle the surging runs by up and coming fast paced "Tuff as Teak" Harley Wilkinson supported well by the returning Luke France
On the other side of their defense Lions Megan Large again showing promise, kept with the Line to strengthen the young guns defensive line helped by the ever present tackling machine of Zach Burke prompting his team to shaw up any defensive gaps appearing
The Lions pressed the visitors line before the alert Ryan Butterworth using his speed, dashed through a gap to put the Lions in front with all to play with conversion by Reiss Butterworth
This start a end to end game in which some fine passing play was done by both sides with some great cover tackles by Reiss Butterworth, Harvey Farrar and Zach Burke all working together to keep the visitors out before a loss on concentration lead to a conceded try to even the scores up going into the break
The Lions never let their heads go down and picked up the gauntlet again into the second half, with the young forward Kane Easby setting a fine example along with pack star Harvey Farrar and some great running onto the ball from Tristan Parker setting the scene for a closely matched second half, before the luck of the green lead to the visitors coming back into the game to score 2 try's and a goal to set up a tense last 10 minutes of play.
Again the Lions battled their way upfield with good work from Harley Wilkinson relieving the forwards of some work, driving the hard yards, before the ever present Reiss Butterworth found a gap to slide through the opponents defense taking three players with him in the process, which he also converted.
The Lions were again storming upfield to gain position before being unlucky with a lapse of concentration leading to the visitors sealing victory with a interception try in the dying minutes
A well contested game by both sides giving their all with both disipline and commitment to their teammates !
