Upton 28 featherstone LIons U13s 26
Lions got off to a dreadfull start in this exciting open encounter ,
Mediocre defending saw Lions trailing by 22-0 after just 15 minutes failing to cope with Uptons big forwards, but to their credit they hit back with 2 fine worked trys before half time from Torin Longstaff and the speedy Connor Bell ,after hard work from forwards Connor Smith who took the man of the match award for a gutsy performance ,hard running Max Brown, Callum Nestor and James Pugh.
Lions attacked well in the second period when the lively Brad Smith darted in after just 2 minutes to further reduce the arrears,
Strong running second rower Reece Dyas raced in for 2 fine tries to leave Lions trailing by just 2 points with 10 minutes remaining,in which Robert England went desperately close to a probably deserved match winning score.
Zak Dawson was again lively at scrum half ,Aron Cunningham and Brad Sharp filled in well at hooker.
Ryan Bailey dealt superbly with several high kicks ,
Scott Ripley ,Charlie Robertson and James Simpsom made telling contributions.
Brown , Longstaff , Brad Smith and Dyas were best in defence.
Longstaff added 3 conversions.
