The Lions produced one of their best defensive displays over the last two years as the injury hit team played really well to overcome a team who they only just beat at home the week before.
 
Lacking 6 players from the starting 13 the Lions were always going to be up against it, and their cause was not helped when Churwell scored first, a 95 yard interception try.  The Lions seemed a little rattled and made one or two unforced errors to invite the big Churwell team in to their own half, outstanding defence prevented the Chiefs from a further score.  The Lions then opened their account when Captain Liam Goodaire fed Ryan Hart who raced 70 meters for a spectacular score.  This then gave the Lions confidence and they started to get back in to the game.  After a good kick and chase Churwell made an error and from the scrum loose forward Ryan Barnaby crossed, Liam Jackson added the extras to give the Lions a 10 – 6 half time lead.
 
The Lions suffered a further set back when Liam Jackson and Matty Ducker both had to leave the field at half time.. Liam Goodaire was then sin binned and whilst the Lions were down to 12 the Chiefs crossed for their second try to tie the scores at 10 – 10.  The Lions then lost Mick Wigglesworth and the team was really down to the bare bones..  On the back of a good kick the Lions forced an error and from the resulting set Jackson, who had returned to the field, put Goodaire over from close range, Jackson then added a magnificent touchline conversion to open up a 6 point lead.  After withstanding further pressure the Lions then scored the try of the game when Ryan Hart raced 80 meters for his second score of the day, with Jackson adding the extras the Lions were leading by 12 points with 8 minutes remaining.  The game was wrapped up when Ben Reynolds neat chip over was collected by that man hart to complete his hat trick!!
 
In a great all round team performance Bradley Wood was outstanding.
