Featherstone were unlucky losers in a very well balanced junior rugby game. Ben Cudworth, Jake Wood and Patrick Harrison started the game strongly and made some superb drives towards dewsburys try line. Tyler Gambon started the game at acting half back and distributed the ball well but a bang to the leg restricted his movements and played the rest of the game on the wing.
Joshua Maden was again strong in defence and when he moved to the hooker role he set up some good tries for hard working team mate Regan Roberts who collected a fine hatrick of tries.
Brandon Boldy and man of the match Ollie Thorton were dominate in attack and also worked hard in defence.
Connor Paver was awarded the moment of the match award when he made an outstanding tackle on celtics biggest player when he was at full speed near the lions try line Paver also scored 2 well taken tries.
The young lions thought they had won theier 1st game in the u9s when Roberts broke through leaving the defence flat footed but the referee dissalowed the try when roberts dived over the line stating the ball had been incorectly placed down.
But overall the players gave their best display to date and all went home happy
